Robert St. John Roper

The sky’s the limit. That’s Robert Roper’s motto. And in the fast-emerging world of telecom and media, Robert keeps pushing those limits. For almost three decades, Robert has provided strategic legal and business counsel to the telecom and media industry. As chair of the firm’s telecom & media group, he assists content creators, television producers, and networks in development and execution of sound business models in the advancing digital age.

As one of the most experienced attorneys in the field, Robert brings passion and intensity to representation of the multichannel programming industry. With in-depth knowledge of the industry’s commercial and technological aspects, Robert consults on network affiliation agreements, program licensing and production contracts, and Internet distribution agreements. He also advises programmers in contract negotiations relative to cable, broadcast, and broadband.

Robert also represents clients in preparation of independent producer, director, composer and writer agreements, distribution and book publishing contracts, software licensing, website development and maintenance agreements, ISP service agreements and all aspects of agency, public relations, and talent contracts and releases.

Prior to leading Moye White’s telecom and media team, Robert had his own law firm for 15 years and served as special counsel to Discovery Communications.

In his own words, Robert is married to the ”most amazing woman” and has two grown sons who live in New York City. He favors the works of e.e. Cummings and old-time rock and roll from the 1960s and 70s.
