FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Denver, Colo., December 18, 2006) - In many parts of the world, businesses mark longevity and stability in centuries. In Europe, it is not uncommon to trace business roots several hundred years. On the East Coast of the United States, corporate histories often span a century or more. However, out West, one of the last settled U.S. territories, major milestones are marked in decades.
The Denver-based law firm of Moye White LLP is proud to celebrate its 30th anniversary serving the Colorado community.
Founded in Fall 1976, the firm known today as Moye White was originally called Head Moye Carver & Ray. The firm’s emphasis was in the areas of litigation, real estate, and commercial law, a tradition and focus that has continued to this day.
Firm instrumental to change
Throughout its history, the firm has had a direct impact on Colorado law and the development of Denver’s business landscape. Moye was involved with the Denver Post/Bonfils Trust litigation - a landmark decision that started Denver’s cultural revolution by impacting the founding of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
From inception, attorneys from the firm have been involved in writing and developing business organization law in the state, as well as with new corporate, partnership and limited liability company laws. Moye White has earned a reputation as one of the more creative and technologically advanced law firms in the state. In fact, Moye White was the first law firm in Colorado to develop its own Web site.
“We have a significant impact on the Colorado business environment,” stated Edward D. “Ted” White, chair of the firm’s Business Group. “Our attorneys have always been in tune to anticipate and fulfill the ongoing needs of businesses. For example, one of our clean energy clients was negotiating with private capital funds for an infusion of capital. Because clean energy has been accepted more readily in Europe, we helped arrange a public offering on London’s AIM?exchange that resulted in a far better valuation.”
Committed to community
Throughout its history, the firm has built a strong commitment within its communities, serving with such organizations as Downtown Denver Inc., Stapleton Redevelopment, Graland Country Day School, Boettcher Foundation, the Colorado Historical Society, and many others.
“We balance the business of law with involvement in the communities we serve,” noted John Moye. “We promote legal ethics as well as civic responsibility and we have fun doing it.”
Firm moves to better serve clients
In 1976, Moye White’s first office was located in the historic American National Bank Building. During the years, the firm has occupied space in the Boston and Equitable Buildings, Seventeen Street Plaza and presently, 16 Market Square. With each location, Moye White has evolved to better serve clients.
Its present offices feature expanded space for client meetings and conferences, several reference libraries, a records center, designated project rooms, and technological enhancement that directs information between clients, courts, and the Moye White legal staff across 10 miles of wire.
A firm on the grow
Today, Moye White continues to grow. The firm currently has 40 attorneys and more than 60 administrative and support personnel who operate as client-dedicated teams. Led by name partners Moye and White, and Managing Partner Jim Burghardt, the firm’s specialties have increased to include emerging industries, such as Franchising, Private Capital Funds, Sports and Entertainment, Telecommunications, and Technology.
The firm has bolstered both its national and international client base, and continues to break new ground in application of technological advances within its business model. Moye White also is only one of seven U.S.-based firms to be recognized with membership in the International Association of Commercial Lawyers, a designation based on excellence, ethics, and business knowledge.
“I can hardly believe it’s been 30 years,” said Moye. “It really seems like yesterday. During that time, we’ve had the privilege of growing with Colorado and our clients and hope to do so for another three decades.”
Firm commemorates 30 great years
To commemorate its anniversary year, the firm, known for its colorful and artistic marketing, sent all of its clients an origami-style announcement that marked 30 great years with a visual tribute to Moye White’s involvement in the passing decades.
