(Denver, Colo., July 21, 2021) – Moye White LLP is pleased to announce partner Garrett Graff presented a legal update on the legality of medicinal and recreational cannabis and the impact on the accounting industry at a webinar, Cannabis: Organizational Forms for Growers and Dispensaries, on July 21.
With the number of states that have recently approved initiatives for legalized recreational use of marijuana, the laws passed around the medicinal use of marijuana are growing quickly, which is confusing for anyone working with the industry – including CPAs. During the webinar, Graff focused on the legal status of marijuana – both recreational and medicinal – at the federal and state level. He also touched on why it’s important for cannabis companies to incorporate, the advantages of being an LLC, recent Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) guidelines, and ethical considerations.
In his practice, Graff specializes in representing clients in a variety of regulated sectors, including cannabis (both marijuana and hemp), food/beverage and alcohol. Specific to the cannabis industry, Graff represents clients on successfully obtaining licenses in numerous states in both competitive and noncompetitive licensure processes. He also represents hemp companies across the country and world on matters including import/export, cultivation, processing and manufacturing, distribution, and navigating legislative and regulatory frameworks.
